Social Work Intern
Hunter Simmons, MSW intern at GE Family Services in Anchorage, sees clients in-person and via telehealth. She works with children, and families on emotional, developmental, and cognitive needs as well as life challenges, building resilience, and tools for growth through a holistic trauma-informed lens using CBT, motivational interviewing, and person-centered.
Hunter is a social work clinical intern with GE Family Services, a division of Partners Behavioral Health Corporation. Hunter is getting their Master of Social Work at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Her approach to therapy is person-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic, supporting healing by addressing the mind, body, and spirit.
With a background in child development and several years of experience as a classroom teacher, she has a deep understanding of the emotional, developmental, and cognitive needs of children. She is passionate about helping children and families navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and develop tools for growth.
In addition, Hunter has experience in crisis intervention and has supported survivors of sexual assault through the healing and advocacy process. She is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients of all ages can process their experiences and move toward empowerment and well-being.
Outside of her clinical work, Hunter enjoys reading for fun, hiking Alaska’s trails, frequenting coffee shops, listening to local music and spending time with her animals—activities that help her stay grounded and connected.
