Psychosocial Assessments

This is the first step for most clients. The purpose of an assessment is to help both the client and counselor understand the problem's history and how the problem currently interferes with the client's ideal functioning. In this stage, clients will also be given a diagnosis according to the DSM-5 and be recommended a level of care. Treatment modalities and individual treatment goals may be discussed at this time, but will be discussed continually throughout treatment.

After determining a diagnosis, level of care, and initial treatment plan, clients will begin Individual Therapy, Couples Counseling, or Family Therapy.

2

Individual Psychotherapy

Clients may be seen at a frequency depending on the level of care recommended and agreed between client and counselor. Session length is typically a 50-min "hour." However, sessions may be scheduled for shorter (30-min) or longer (80-min) or extended (90+ min). This will be discussed prior to moving from the standard 50-min hour. Individual therapy modalities used at GE Family Services include Brainspotting (BSP), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Forward-Facing Trauma Therapy (FFTT), Polyvagal Therapy, and Complicated Grief Treatment

3

Couples Counseling

Clients who are seen for couples counseling will be seen at the frequency recommended and agreed between both partners and the counselor. Session length is typically a 50-min "hour." Couples counseling modalities used at GE Family Services include Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT).

4

Family Therapy

Clients who are seen for family therapy will be seen at the frequency recommended and agreed between the family and the counselor. Session length is typically a 50-min "hour." Family therapy modalities used at GE Family Services include Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
