Intern
Lexi Humphreys joins GE Family Services as a MSW intern working both in person at the Anchorage office and via telehealth. Lexi fosters an approach that is trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, reflective, and tastefully humorous.
Hello! I’m Lexi, a Master of Social Work (MSW) clinical intern here at GE Family Services, a division of Partners Behavioral Health Corporation. I hold an Associate of Arts in General Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I’m currently pursuing my graduate social work program with the Ohio State University where my focus is on clinical mental health and substance use. Through a combination of this curriculum and my lived experiences, I foster an approach that is trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, reflective, and tastefully humorous.
I like to describe my professional background as a sort of “jack of all trades”, as I have worked in an array of settings. With this non-traditional and non-linear path to social work, as well as being a military spouse, I understand the complexities and nuances of life. I possess a strong desire to learn all that I can about the intersection of mental health, society, and personal healing from a psychosocial standpoint. You are the expert of your own experience and I honor that, showing up with you where you are and a passion to help you get to where you want to be. Much of my focus revolves around teens and adults who are undergoing life transitions, experiencing anxiety, navigating substance use and recovery, and experiencing military lifestyle affiliated stress.
I am committed to providing a comfortable, affirming and nonjudgmental space where everyone feels heard. With resilience, compassion, and collaboration at the forefront of my approach, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) modalities, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While I am a secular individual, I strive to cultivate a safe and culturally responsive space to work together in finding positive change.
I am originally from Washington state, but have since lived in New Mexico, Hawaii, and I now reside in the beautiful state of Alaska. Hobbies I love include reading fantasy, thriller, or romantic-comedy books, streaming shows with my couch-potato dog, running long-distance (or at least attempting to), and traveling far and wide with my husband. As a millennial, I’m young enough to understand trending social media topics but old enough to fear tax season. Please reach out, I’m here for you.
