Intern
Lexi Humphreys joins GE Family Services as a first year MSW intern working both in person at the Anchorage office and via telehealth. Lexi fosters an approach that is trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, reflective, and tastefully humorous.
Lexi Humphreys joins GE Family Services as a first-year Master of Social Work (MSW) intern. As a first-year intern, her focus is on developing foundational helping and relationship-building skills while working collaboratively with our internal team of clinicians. Lexi holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and is currently working towards her MSW at Ohio State University where her focus is on mental health and substance use. Through a combination of this curriculum and her lived experiences, Lexi fosters an approach that is trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, reflective, and tastefully humorous.
Lexi likes to describe her professional background as a sort of “jack of all trades”, as she has worked in an array of settings. With this non-traditional and non-linear path to social work, as well as being a military spouse, Lexi understands the complexities and nuances of life. Lexi possesses a strong desire to learn all that she can about the intersection of mental health, society, and personal healing from a psychosocial standpoint. She believes that people are inherently good and is committed to creating a safe and culturally responsive space to work together in finding positive change. Lexi believes that you are the expert of your own experience and wants honor that, showing up with you where you are with a passion to help you get to where you want to be. Much of her focus revolves around adults who are undergoing life transitions, experiencing anxiety, navigating substance use and recovery, and experiencing military lifestyle affiliated stress.
Originally from Washington state, Lexi has lived in New Mexico, Hawaii, and now resides in the beautiful state of Alaska. When not working, you can find her spending time with hobbies she loves. Those include reading fantasy, thriller, or romantic-comedy books, streaming shows with her couch-potato dog, running long-distance (or at least attempting to), and traveling far and wide with her husband. As a millennial, Lexi is young enough to understand trending social media topics but old enough to fear tax season. Through her internship, Lexi intends to nurture her curiosity of different therapeutic modalities. Along the way, she is so grateful for the opportunity to serve Alaskan communities in the company of experienced and supportive clinicians.
