Clinician
Samantha Emerson, M.Ed, is a Pre-Licensed Clinician in Anchorage offering in-person and telehealth therapy across Alaska. She supports children, teens, adults, and families with trauma, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, and identity concerns through a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
Hello! I’m Samantha Emerson (she/her), and I am a Pre-Licensed Clinician at GE Family Services, a division of Partners Behavioral Health Corporation. I provide both in-person therapy at our Anchorage office and telehealth services to individuals and families across Alaska. My work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a belief that each person’s journey deserves to be met with curiosity, compassion, and clinical care tailored to their unique needs and experiences.

I bring over a decade of experience as a professional educator, case manager, and advocate for individuals navigating learning differences, emotional challenges, and behavioral needs. My time in classrooms—from early childhood through high school—shaped not only my knowledge of trauma, neurodivergence, and identity development, but also my deep respect for the inner strength and resilience of people of all ages. That foundation led me to pursue a Master of Education in Special Education, where I focused on autism spectrum disorders, attention-based challenges, childhood trauma, and emotional-behavioral disorders. I am now continuing my academic journey by pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

My clinical practice integrates trauma-informed, neurodivergence-affirming, and person-centered approaches. I work with children, teens, adults, and families experiencing a range of challenges including trauma, abuse and neglect, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, identity confusion, grief and loss, and distorted or negative thought patterns. I take a relational, strengths-based approach and strive to co-create a space where my clients feel safe, seen, and empowered to heal and grow.

My own story plays an important role in how I connect with others. I was born and raised in Florida, and spent many summers in Alaska before moving to Anchorage after high school. My undergraduate studies focused on history, philosophy, and political science—especially on twentieth-century genocide and intergenerational trauma. These themes were not just academic for me. My mother, a Korean immigrant and childhood trauma survivor, experienced severe depressive episodes throughout my life. Supporting her and navigating the mental health system on her behalf taught me firsthand how broken systems can fail people—and also how deeply healing can occur with the right support. That personal journey, combined with my professional background, fuels my commitment to serving others with care, dignity, and clinical excellence.

In therapy, I aim to meet clients where they are. I value authenticity, humor, and collaboration. I’m especially passionate about working with school-aged children and adolescents, offering individualized care plans and interventions that build on their strengths and provide practical tools for everyday life. At the same time, I enjoy supporting adults and families as they navigate the complexities of healing from trauma, managing anxiety or depression, and redefining their identities and relationships.

I believe that the skills I developed as an educator—relationship-building, behavioral observation, critical thinking, instructional planning, and supportive intervention—are indispensable in my role as a therapist. I strive to bring warmth, attentiveness, and clinical integrity to every session. I’m grateful to walk alongside my clients through some of life’s most difficult, confusing, or transformative moments, and I consider it a privilege to be part of their healing and growth.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and supporting your journey toward clarity, self-compassion, and lasting change.
