Counseling Intern
Merry Sina, a Counseling Intern at GE Family Services, sees children, adolescents, adults, and marginalized groups in Anchorage and via telehealth across Alaska. She focuses on anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence.

Hello! I'm Merry, a clinical intern at GE Family Services, a division of Partners Behavioral Health Corporation.  I was born and raised in Kupang, Indonesia. Prior to immigrating to the United States, I served as a seminary lecturer for three years and dedicated over 16 years as a missionary in underserved communities throughout Indonesia. Since immigrating in 2017, I have been employed by the Anchorage School District as a paraprofessional in special education, a role I still hold. In addition, I have worked as an employment support specialist, providing job coaching and support for individuals with disabilities.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Theological Studies from ATI Theological Seminary in West Borneo, Indonesia, and a Master of Science in Psychology from Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga, Indonesia. Additionally, I have obtained certifications as a Chemical Dependency Counselor I (CDC I) and as a Behavioral Health Associate through the Regional Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor Training (RADACT) Academy in Anchorage. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University in Arizona, and a Certified Master Mental Health Coaching from Light University in Forest, Virginia.

As a Christian, my therapeutic approach is grounded in biblical principles, emphasizing the significance of relationships—with God, with others, and with oneself—as integral to the healing process. I believe that true healing encompasses the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of a person. My practice utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Faith-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Music Therapy, Mindfulness, and Play Therapy.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I am passionate about outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and long walks. I also enjoy fashion, modeling, cooking, and gardening. In my leisure time, I find tranquility at home, often engaged in music, playing the guitar and ukulele, and writing—mostly in Indonesian. My creative hobbies often make their way into my therapy room as I believe they play a crucial role in fostering connection, expression, and healing for my clients.

Whether you are seeking therapy for the first time or continuing your healing journey, I commend your commitment to personal growth. We offer telehealth appointments for your convenience—please visit our website to get started. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your path to greater balance and well-being.
