Independent Contractor
Melissa joins GE Family Services as a Clinician to work with individuals, couples, and families involved in the legal system. She provides therapeutic services to assist her clients to meet goals set by the court, probation officers, guardian at litems, Office of Children's Services, and other parties. She is comfortable in the courtroom and provides testimony if needed on these cases with appropriate release from her clients or by the order of the court.

I graduated summa cum laude from Western Michigan University in 2014 with a bachelor’s in liberal arts. My focus was multi-faceted to include Gender and Women’s Studies, Social Work, Business, Sociology and Psychology. I previously worked for the Office of Children’s Services in both urban and rural offices to include Nome, Bethel, Fairbanks and St. Mary’s. Realizing that I desired a more proactive and person-centered approach within my community, I went back to school and obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. I graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University in 2021. It was then that I joined The Office of Public Advocacy as a Guardian ad Litem. After recognizing my inherent desire for “boots on the ground” work, I knew I would only achieve that by working for myself. It was then that I resigned from the Office of Public Advocacy and opened Reunify Alaska. My mission is to give Alaska’s families and children power over their future.

As a client, you will be privy to my years of experience in child welfare and legal arenas, along with my extensive educational background. I have worked with individuals, families, and agencies across the state to determine the best course of action for the client I am advising. I will serve as an additional member to your team that will be able to navigate achieving the successes and goals you desire while showing compassion, confidentiality, and integrity.

I was born in Indiana (Go Hoosiers!), but it wasn’t until I moved to Alaska in 2013 that I’d truly felt at home. I come from a multi-faceted background; my father is Native American, and my mother is from Poland. I was raised with values from both cultures, and I have significant ties to my tribe, the Potawatomi Nation. I’m very active in my personal life. I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, hunting, fishing - basically if it poses a challenge, I’m up for the adventure!

Melissa only sees clients seeking therapeutic services through GE Family Services. If you are a client who would like to work with Melissa for Expert Witness testimony, Parent Coordination, Mediation, or other services, you may reach out to her directly through her website by clicking on the Reunify Alaska Contact Request button.
