Jennifer joins GE Family Services as an MSW Intern to work with children, teens, adults, and couples with depression and anxiety.
Aloha! My name is Jenn Lawson and I look forward to being an intern with GE Family Services. I have always had a passion in supporting others to thrive and succeed in life. I am less than a year away from completing my Masters in Social Work from ASU. Some background experience that I have includes working with families, teens, homeless population and Domestic Violence. My ultimate goal is to become a Licensed Social Worker and work in the Hospitals with families and children.
I was born and raised on Oahu, Hawai’i and have lived here a majority of my life. The great thing about living on island is that Hawai’i is a melting pot with various cultures. I love learning about the different cultures here. I currently work with a nonprofit agency and have been working with them for 11 years. I currently work with families with children ages 0-3. I help in providing resources and support to families and connecting them with Home Visiting services for extra support. I also engage actively in the community working with different providers and learning about the different resources offered on the island.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends on my free time. I love going to the beach when I can to watch the sunset. I also love traveling when I have the chance. I would definitely say I am a big foodie and love trying different places.
I look forward to my internship with GE Family Services and excited in learning and gaining more knowledge. I am eager to meet with clients by being supportive and engaging in conversation.
