Ernest joins GE Family Services as an MSW Intern to work with clients who appreciate the convenience of telehealth delivery.
Hello! My name is Ernest Sevilla. For the past three years, I have been an elementary school teacher. During that time, I realized that I wanted to help people in a different way and I felt much more fulfillment helping people heal than helping people understand arithmetic and language arts. I am less than 6 months away from obtaining my master's in social work and have absolutely loved every minute of this journey!
Through my educational experience, I have gained direct experience with helping individuals who have experienced sexual assault, as well as assisting in prevention efforts. This experience was especially informative as it was gained through an internship with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Team on a military base in Germany.
I get excited to know that I have the knowledge to help people; very recently someone asked me, "what drives you?" After thinking about that question for a few days I can confidently say that helping people heal is my driving force.
I enjoy traveling and having unique experiences in different countries; I have run with the bulls in Spain, I have climbed Mount Fuji, visited an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, and drank champagne at the top of the Eifel tower. Traveling the world, along with my social work experiences, have helped me recognize how cultures impact how people react and how our everyday decisions help shape us and the people around us.
I look forward to learning from everyone the team at GE Family Services and any clients I am able to help, and I hope to add some insight through conversation and experience.
